Find your greatness by joining the Fleet Services Team as our Driving Assessment & Development Officer. We are responsible for providing a number of services within the passenger transport arena. We are looking for someone to work as part of a close knit team, to support us in maintaining and developing staff skills in relation to driving standards and learning development. You will also be required to assist the Compliance Officer in carrying out external driving assessments on private hire drivers and external partners in schools and day centres.
As part of your role, you will report to the Principal Officer to take the lead for ensuring that all required learning & development for a large team of council drivers and passenger assistants is arranged, booked and carried out via a centralised training team. You will also be required to identify future L&D needs in partnership with staff and team managers.
The successful candidate will be required to have advanced driving experience through previous qualifications within emergency services or similar. They will have knowledge of road traffic legislation and will have undertaken road traffic collision investigations. They will be competent to apportion responsibility in relation to road traffic collisions and driving activities. A clear understanding of corporate motor vehicle insurance will be needed, as will the ability to liaise effectively with other departments in relation to insurance queries, this will include external organisations.
The successful candidate will become part of the Fleet management team, and there will be occasions when they will be required to provide assistance to colleagues who directly manage the transport operation. The post holder will be mainly based at Thorn Turn Depot, Houghton Regis but will also be expected to travel across the council area as required. They will also be required to work at our second transport base, Sandy Depot as necessary.
