Role Purpose

In a borough with amongst the greatest public health challenges in the country, do you have what it takes to work across the council and with partners to improve health outcomes and address health inequalities in Tower Hamlets?


We are recruiting to a permanent role for a Public Health Programme lead in our Healthy Environments team.


The postholder will have responsibility to improve outcomes around the aspirations of the Health Environments programme. The aspirations of the programme are that Tower Hamlets has:


•Physical spaces supporting social interaction, safe neighbourhoods and mental wellbeing


•A built environment supporting everyday physical activity


•A built environment supporting safe neighbourhoods


•Easy access to affordable healthy food


•An environment that is safe from hazards, sustainable, and pollution free


•Housing that is health enhancing and free from health harms


•Sufficient infrastructure to provide the level of health services needed by the population





Key Responsibilities

  • Insight and intelligence

  • Strategic leadership, partnership engagement and planning commissioning and delivery

  • Evaluation, innovation and research

  • Developing public health skills and leadership

  • Management of budgets and resources



Requirements

You will need:

  • Masters level qualification in Public Health orrelated subject or equivalent professional qualification
  • Significant experience of public health practiceat a senior level and at a practical level to improve health and wellbeing
  • Extensive experience of undertaking health needsassessment, health care evaluation, equity audits, clinical and non-clinicalaudits or quality assurance, health strategy and policy development
  • Extensive experience of conducting literature reviews, critical appraisals andcommunicate findings to a wide range of stakeholders
