Directorate: People and Communities
Starting salary: JG7: £27,905 - £30,507 per annum
Location: Based in North Somerset
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: Permanent – subject to successful completion of ASYE year
Closing date: Thursday 02 April 2020
We want all of our ASYE social workers to have the best start to their career and we know that everyone develops at a different rate. We also want our social workers to stay with us so that we can be assured of high quality, high performing Children’s Social Care teams in the future.
We have looked at the traditional route for ASYE and believe that we can improve it. We have created learning pods in our social work teams where newly qualified social workers will be supported and developed by an experienced Consultant Social Worker (Practice Leader) and the Principal Social Worker. These pods are based in North Somerset.
If you want your first experience of professional social work to be nurturing and supportive we believe that this model will deliver it for you. By being located in the heart of the communities you will experience delivering a range of social work interventions from child in need and child protection work which you will be case holding through to co-working care proceedings and adoption work. Your development will go at your pace with the Principal Social Worker and the Consultant Social Worker (Practice Leader) setting out your individual learning plan. You will be part of a wider network of ASYE’s in North Somerset who will be offered group and individual supervision, mentoring, coaching and training relevant to your role. You will also benefit from being part of a bigger team that includes Consultant Social Work Practitioners, Social Workers, student Social Workers, Family Support Key Workers and Young People’s Support Workers. You will also be able to spend time in other teams such as fostering and adoption, disabled children’s team and the referral and assessment team.
We are a small authority with big ambitions for our staff, and high standards for our children and families and our future. To achieve our ambition we want motivated, tenacious and talented social workers to join us and come with us on our journey.
This post is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitations of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
