The Children’s Activity Team are looking for committed and motivated employees to join their team of experienced play and sports coaches. You will have knowledge of sports activities and the wider benefits of play/sports – as well as an understanding of the different types of play; especially risky play and nature play. You will have experience of working with children and young people, have some coaching experience and, preferably, be qualified to NGB Level 2 or equivalent.
The scheme aims to increase play opportunities in the borough by providing quality, supervised play for children, young people and families in both structured and unstructured settings. These are delivered at a number of parks locations across the borough. In addition to this, we look to provide a mixture of arts & crafts, multi-sports and mentoring opportunities in schools and youth club environments.
The post holder will be required to work both within schools during term time and in the community. The post holder will focus on the delivery of multi-sport sessions during school lunchtimes and evening Youth Club sessions in community facilities. This will be delivered regularly each week, predominantly during term time – but with community sessions carrying on during some holiday periods. There is further opportunity to deliver Forest schools sessions during term time in schools, and to help develop a Forest school holiday programme during holiday periods throughout the year. For this, a Forest Schools Training qualification is desirable.
There is also delivery throughout the school holidays with special events and community play sessions, which will take place in Parks and Community Centres across the borough. Your own transport with the ability to carry equipment is essential. This post is subject to an enhanced disclosure under the Disclosure and Barring Service.
