Lancaster City Council is looking to recruit 16 Seasonal Gardeners to join its Ground Maintenance team during the period April 2020 until September 2020.
The main purpose of these posts is to assist in the maintenance and cleanliness of the Council’s parks, gardens and open spaces. Duties will include mowing, strimming, weeding, planting and litter picking.
The successful candidates must be able to; work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, work well as part of a small team and possess basic knowledge of health and safety. Previous experience of horticultural work, using petrol driven mowing machines and strimmer’s are desirable. A current, UK full driving licence is also desirable.
The hours of work will be 42 hours per week, working 5 days out of 7, which will include evenings, weekends and bank holidays. You will be paid for 37 hours per week; the 5 hours extra per week will be paid as holidays. Your administrative base will be White Lund Depot.
Working patterns are variable and will be discussed at interview.
Earlier this year Lancaster City Council unanimously declared a climate emergency and will therefore work towards reducing carbon emissions to net-zero by 2030. As part of this role, you will be expected to participate and work towards reducing carbon emissions.
Please note the Council is currently reviewing its pay and grading structure and the salary may be subject to change.
