Croydon Council’s Electoral Services team are responsible for the registration of electors and the administration of elections and referendums in one of the largest London boroughs.
The Deputy Electoral Services Manager will support the Head of Electoral Services to deliver these statutory functions, having particular responsibility for the management of the electoral registration process including the annual registration canvass, sale and supply of the electoral register and line-management of the electoral services team. The successful applicant will also deputise for the Head of Electoral Services.
You must have extensive experience working in electoral services and a thorough and up to date knowledge of the legal framework surrounding electoral functions.
You will need to be able to demonstrate good leadership skills and support other team members to deliver the overall service, be adaptable to changing priorities and have a flexible and positive approach to delivering all functions of electoral services.
You should also be a team player who is enthusiastic, positive and motivated with excellent IT and communication skills, together with an ability to organise and manage your own workload to deliver high quality work to strict deadlines.
During busy periods such as before and during elections and canvass periods you will be expected to work additional hours which will include evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Annual leave may be restricted during busy periods.
