The Planning Service at Tunbridge Wells Borough Council is determining an increasing number of applications for major developments, whilst simultaneously progressing the allocation of further development in the emerging Local Plan to deliver growth until 2036.

In order that there are no delays between planning permission being granted for development and work starting on site, and to assist in securing the funding and delivery of the necessary infrastructure and affordable housing, we have created two additional posts to work as part of our dedicated, hard-working and positive Development Management department.

The role has two main purposes: firstly, to deal with and make recommendations on applications that are made to discharge conditions on approved planning applications, and secondly the monitoring of and securing payments in relation to Section 106 agreements (and on the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), in the event that CIL is adopted by the Council in the future).

We are looking for enthusiastic, dedicated individuals with excellent organisational skills, accuracy and attention to detail. These posts are suitable for someone looking to develop a career in planning that may not have a relevant planning qualification. The culture of Planning Services at Tunbridge Wells is one which is both supportive and provides opportunities for development and progression.

Additional benefits for this post include 22 days annual leave (increasing to 27 days after 5 years Local Government service), membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme as well as invaluable training opportunities for continuing professional development.
