Who we are

The Planning Policy team is small, friendly and ambitious and is committed to planning positively to meet the growth needs of this special Borough. The team are currently finalising the new Borough local plan, beginning to implement its policies, whilst also looking ahead to its future review. Runnymede’s location at the edge of London and close to Heathrow Airport, make it an interesting place to pursue the challenges of plan making and delivery within a wider regional context. The Local Plan sets out ambitious growth for the Borough, including a new Garden Village and Enterprise Zone at Longcross. 

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a confident and self-motivated person with a positive work ethic who wants to start their career within a supportive and friendly environment. Applicants should either have an RTPI accredited undergraduate or postgraduate degree or must have an undergraduate degree and be willing to complete a part-time RTPI accredited degree course.  You will need to be well organised and able to work both independently and as part of a team. You should be able to work positively with a range of partners and give clear, accurate advice.  You should demonstrate good verbal, numerical, problem-solving, IT and written skills, and be able to deliver good quality work within agreed timescales.  You must also have a full driving license.

Our team provides a supportive and positive environment in which to work and develop with proven success in mentoring planners to full RTPI membership and promotion. This is a career grade post allowing flexibility to progress to senior level subject to experience and qualifications.

As a graduate planner you will play a direct role in assisting with the Local Plan process, including undertaking consultation with the public and a wide range of stakeholders. You will have responsibility for supporting the production of Supplementary Planning Documents and undertake survey and analysis of data to support monitoring. You will also work positively with a range of partners on neighbourhood planning and help to resolve interesting and complex planning policy and delivery issues as part of your work.
