Location: Central Library but working across the city

Portsmouth city council is recruiting for two part time Driver/Attendants to join the Library and Archives team on a permanent basis. Working 18.5 hours per week on a rota basis to cover weekends you'll be based at Portsmouth Central Library but will be working across the city to meet the needs of the service.

 

What is the role?  

Reporting to the Service Development Manager, the post holder will drive the library van to provide deliveries and will provide a porterage and assistance role in the Central library and other buildings. 

You will be responsible for safely delivering books and/or archives between service points and maintaining the van which will involve arranging routine servicing visits, MOT, scheduling necessary repairs, cleaning, refuelling and recording a daily log sheet of visits and issues. 

The post holder will also undertake patrolling, security, shelving and customer service duties within the Central Library, and will conduct porterage duties which will include lifting and moving various items such as furniture, boxes of books and waste material.

 

What you need to succeed? 

The successful candidate will be a good communicator with excellent customer care skills and a full, preferably clean driving license.
