ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES SUPERVISOR (REFUSE AND RECYCLING)
Salary NS9: £26,317 rising to £27,905 per annum

This is reflected in the objectives of our Community Plan, available here, and the new Environmental Services Business Unit will have this at the heart of its activities.
Our Environmental Services Supervisors play a vital role in ensuring that we are able to deliver on our objectives. We are currently recruiting an additional Supervisor to support the coordination of the refuse and recycling team. In this role, you will ensure that refuse and recycling are continually undertaken to a high standard and will supervise a team of front line, operational staff including operatives and drivers and will be responsible for allocation of work along with carrying out management and HR related tasks such as recruitment, absence management, team meetings and investigations where required. You will also provide quotes for additional waste collections, be the escalation point for any issues raised by customers, such as rejected bins, and coordinate the work of the Trade Waste teams.
The successful candidate will have experience managing frontline staff and hold a full driving licence. In addition to this, you will also hold a category C licence or be willing and able to obtain one, at your own cost, within 12 months of being appointed to the role. You will have undertaken relevant training and have knowledge of hazardous waste collection and COSHH regulation. You will also have an understanding of health and safety at work.
You will be able to work in a flexible and adaptable manner, ensuring that resources are used in the most efficient way at all times and will be able to communicate effectively when dealing with staff, customers and other stakeholders within the Council. You will also be proficient in computer packages such as Word and Excel.
You will be based at the Council’s depot on Brunel Drive but may be required to work in and around the District undertaking tasks as required. Due to the nature of the role, you must also be physically fit and willing to work outdoors in all conditions.
