Please note that Surrey County Council's headquarters, where this role is currently based, will be relocating back into Surrey in 2020 to support our Community Vision 2030. The new headquarters will be based in Woking.
Whilst the primary base for the role holder will currently be Kingston, the work assigned could see the postholder working from any of our sites across the county and so ability to travel is a requirement of the role.

The Business Intelligence team's mission is to work in partnership with others to transform the way information, analysis and insight is provided to the council to enable more effective decision-making, helping to achieve the ambitions set out in the Organisation Strategy and the Community Vision for Surrey in 2030. Performance data is a vital part of running a high performing organisation and we strive for excellence in performance management and champion open data.
About the role
As Strategic Lead – Business Intelligence you will manage a range of business intelligence activities – including performance reporting, benchmarking, dashboard development and analysis – championing innovative approaches to further a high performance and quality driven culture. You will work with teams across the council, gathering intelligence to establish metrics, scorecards and dashboards relating to service quality and performance that support continuous improvement. You'll provide leadership and expertise to the council and partners, advising on best practice and innovative approaches.
You will have a proven track record in managing business intelligence and/or performance management activity within a complex organisation. You have a strong grasp of data standards and the techniques required to understand and drive performance. You enjoy presenting insights to stakeholders in an engaging and compelling way and can bring performance information to life with stories or data visualisations. You're organised and analytical and adept at working collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders
