About the job

You’ll be part of a unique, innovative, evolving service, where you’ll genuinely be able to support people in making changes. Sorted - Substance Use and Misuse Programmes team deliver a range of targeted substance misuse-related personal development and support programmes for adolescents aged 11 - 19, young adults aged 20-25, and adult parents, guardians and carers, including those who are at risk of negative substance misuse outcomes, and who require additional support to overcome challenges to their personal, educational, health and social progression.

You will:
• work with a range of schools, children’s homes, supporting housing, youth services , colleges, alternative education provision etc to provide education and prevention programmes on substance misuse for young people in small group and classroom settings
• work with the lead programme delivery worker and programme coordinator to design programmes on substance misuse to engage different groups of young people, including those at risk of CCE and Serious Youth Violence.
• work with the lead programme delivery worker and programme coordinator to design resource packs for professionals and parents.
• take part in community events such as freshers weeks, awareness weeks to provide opportunity for young people, parents and professionals to get information on substance misuse and agencies locally and nationally which provide support and treatment


About the person

The successful candidate will be committed to taking a positive, holistic and empowering approach to service delivery. We are looking for someone who has demonstrable experience and competence of working with young people in formal or informal education or a community setting .You need to have a good understanding of issues which young people face today with a focus on substance misuse. You will have a creative and dynamic approach and be able to engage with hard to reach and other vulnerable groups of young people.

There is no specific training or qualifications required for the post , as training to gain the required knowledge will be part of the induction to the role, but willingness to learn and gain knowledge in the field of substance misuse is a must.

Additional information

This is a part time position working 18 hours per week. Work patterns include evening shifts (6:45-9:45 pm), twilight shifts (3:15-6:15 pm), weekend shifts, and occasional residential work. The salary advertised will be pro-rated. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
