Compass Team- ‘Navigating journeys with children’
Do you want to join us? This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a newly created, innovative team in Wokingham Borough Council’s children’s services.
The goal of this new team will be to develop new ways of working and to provide additional capacity to support social work teams to deliver and sustain positive outcomes; achieving permanence with children, families, carers and multiagency partners focusing on;
- Children remaining at home or in their connected networks when safe to do so (traditionally referred to as edge of care).
- Children remaining in placements for as long as appropriate and without any unplanned moves (traditionally referred to as placement stability).
- Children returning home or to their connected networks, so that they can safely leave care and build their relationships and resilience in their local communities (traditionally referred to as reunification).
We know that the success of this team will be dependent upon the people we employ and are keen to hear from those that are flexible, dynamic and willing to work with safe uncertainty to achieve the best outcomes for our children. We are seeking a multi -disciplinary team with; a team manager, a Psychologist and 3 child and family workers to enable those with varied skills and experience to deliver the best outcomes for children and families.
To enable you to work to your best we will develop you in your role and as part of the team; additional training and support will be provided and you will have an opportunity to develop the range of interventions and skills you bring to make a difference to children.
The Psychologist role- we have deliberately designed this role with some flexibility as we are keen to recruit the right person with the skills and experience that would enable them to develop the role and approach. Critical will be an understanding of systemic ways of working with an underpinning knowledge of developmental trauma and attachment theory and practice. We want a skilled professional who can work collaboratively and flexibly as part of a team. To ensure development and support we will work with the post holder to ensure clinical supervision is available as well as professional relationships and support to enable career progression.
