Our Highways team aims to provide a high quality road network for the region. By ensuring our highways are safe for the public, we help make Central Bedfordshire a great place to work and live. This role provides a great opportunity to ensure all the trees on the highways network are managed and maintained in a timely manner. You will be part of a diverse team primarily assisting in keeping the asset safe and making improvements within your geographic area. You will liaise with members, identify highway tree issues and raise task orders for repairs. Give local people attractive, well maintained highway trees and you could find your greatness.
Across Central Bedfordshire, thousands of residents, businesses and visitors use our roads every day. You’ll make sure they get a good experience, whether they’re walking, driving or cycling. The first step is to be responsible for what is happening on the highway network in your area. You will provide excellent customer service experience doing your upmost to deal with tree issues which are directed your way, or find the correct person to help. You will assist the Area Team in liaising with members and local town and parish council’s to assess and resolve tree issues. You will provide guidance and advice to give them confidence their issues are being taken seriously and are being processed through the correct channels. To make sure we’re working efficiently, you’ll monitor the performance of highway contract procedures and check they comply with rules.
You will hold a Lantra Professional Tree Inspection qualification and you will have worked in a related tree/environment discipline before. You’re used to identifying defects, raising task orders for repairs, dealing with contractors, monitoring of works on site and dealing with members, Town & Parish Councils and customers. You build good working relationships, drawing on strong communication skills. You also ensure Health & Safety is paramount at all times. You will be IT-literate and a natural problem solver.
