Are you someone with a passion for public health? Would you like to help deal with hazards in private sector homes in South Derbyshire?
You’ll be expected to work closely with other agencies such as social services, health services and fire and rescue to identify vulnerable and poorly people who are at risk of falling further into ill health because of their housing conditions. You’ll be expected to use a range of interventions to help improve their housing and living conditions using grant aid, legal action and linking them with other services who can help.
The work is varied, interesting, rewarding and often eye opening!
You’ll need to have excellent skills in building relationships with other agencies, the ability to communicate with all sorts of people to achieve the best possible outcomes and excellent problem-solving skills. You’ll also need to have good analytical skills to ensure that we can understand the social impact of the work you’re doing.
You’ll need to be qualified to degree level with a good understanding of housing law and practice and an appreciation of the various health intervention services provided by different agencies.
We work to make the lives of more than 100,000 residents of South Derbyshire better, to keep people out of hospital and ensure they are happy and healthy in their own homes.
The position is within our Environmental Services team based in offices in Swadlincote. The post is for 24-months but may be extended if funding is provided. The starting salary will be based on experience, with a generous pension package, annual leave and further training opportunities.
