rivate Sector Housing Grants Surveyor
Salary: £29,700 to £31,626
We are seeking a positive and self-motivated person to provide technical expertise to the Council’s Private Sector Housing Grants Service within the Commercial and Regulatory Service.
Working closely with the Residential Team Manager and the Grants Team you will liaise with a wide range of outside agencies involved in the application process; you should therefore have experience in general administration and have good interpersonal skills.
You will inspect private sector properties and take measurements, sketches and notes and will liaise with the Residential Team Manager and other health professionals to propose and design suitable adaptations, in accordance with Occupational Therapists’ recommendations, that will enable our residents to remain living independently and safely at home.
You may be required to submit Building Regulations Applications and Planning Applications and will work collaboratively with our internal partners.
You will participate in feasibility meetings and will have excellent problem-solving skills; you may need to research products and solutions and must have a ‘can-do’ attitude in order to meet the needs of individuals with complex needs and challenging behaviours. You will need to be sensitive to the needs of older, disabled and vulnerable people and must be able to deal with confidential information appropriately.
You will advise on technical matters relating to construction, maintenance, adaptation and repair work as required and will assist the Residential Team Manager in maintaining the Preferred Contractors List by assisting in the project management of grants through to completion and will inspect work carried out by individual contractors.
You must be proficient in the use of AutoCAD and/or Visio and be able to produce high quality scaled digital drawings and appropriate work schedules for tendering purposes.
As well as being proficient using Microsoft IT products, you will be required to use other private sector housing IT database systems.
In recognition of the need to visit people in their own homes and/or attend other meetings this post attracts a casual car user’s allowance. We also offer a competitive salary, flexible and agile working and generous holiday entitlement.
