This is a zero hour (bank) contract, which means that we do not guarantee to offer you any work on a regular basis but neither are you required to accept any work offered if it is not convenient for you.
Surrey County Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We want to be an inclusive and diverse employer of first choice reflecting the community we serve and particularly welcome applications from all underrepresented groups.
About the role
Surrey Adult Learning provide a wide range of daytime, evening and Saturday courses and learning opportunities for adults. The provision includes leisure courses like arts and crafts and languages; qualification courses such as GCSE's in English and Maths; classes which support those with learning difficulties and/or disabilities; classes aimed at parents/carers to help them support their children and improve their own skills; and an outreach provision aimed at vulnerable groups in the community who would not normally engage in any form of learning.
Surrey Adult Learning has seven centres across North and South West Surrey and is looking to appoint Examination Invigilators as a bank role for the Service.
We are looking for people who can demonstrate common sense, accuracy and attention to detail, and have the self-confidence to command a room of up to 45 students, giving instructions clearly and authoritatively.
You must be punctual, have a flexible attitude to work and possess good communication skills.
Duties include laying out stationery, observing candidates, checking attendance, collecting scripts and liaising with learners, tutors and examinations staff to resolve queries. Duties may also include collecting papers from one centre and taking to another centre for the exam and dispatching completed papers to the awarding body.
Full training will be provided and staff will be contacted prior to the exam period to discuss the Invigilation schedule in relation to their own availability. Exams take place throughout the academic year, but we especially need you to be available from mid May through to mid June to assist with the English and Maths GCSEs.
You may be required to work from any of our seven centres where we run our accredited provision from:
