Working as part of the team supporting Planning Officers, you will play an important role assisting in the processing of planning applications, appeals and enforcement cases, retrieving information from hard copy and computer based maps, distributing information and using a variety of computer systems. Your role will involve a variety of clerical and administrative tasks, and you will be called upon to attend to our customers at Reception.
Whilst prior experience and understanding of the planning development control environment is desirable, you must have the ability to learn to answer technical enquiries from the public, and an ability to work with maps and IT systems.
You will also need to be able to communicate clearly, orally and in writing; understand and adapt quickly to a variety of tasks; and be able to read and interpret maps. An approachable manner and flexible attitude are essential. The work is enjoyed most by those who are able to work in an organised and methodical way, largely unsupervised.
