Job introduction

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Premises Help desk team as an Assistant Audio / Visual Technician working on meeting room AV, Webcasting equipment and hearing loop systems, responding to immediate requirements in order to keep communication systems in working order.

About the role

Assist with preparing council chamber for committee meetings – setting out furniture, microphones, water, cups, and other equipment required for specific meetings.

Assist with other meetings, providing technical support to other council departments, the CCG and external organisations as appropriate.

Assist the Audio & Visual Technician with providing an on-call technical support service to users of the meetings rooms at Hove Town Hall and Brighton Town Hall.

Assist the Audio & Visual Technician  with the webcasting of council meetings, ensuring that the system is set-up correctly before the start of the meeting and monitor the meeting to ensure that the best possible coverage of the meeting is obtained.

Undertake miscellaneous duties as instructed.Assist other trades as directed by the Reactive and Extra Works helpdesk or Premises management team.

Respond in a prompt and effective manner to all reactive maintenance issues and help desk requests associated with AV, ICT and other elctrical equipment

Assist the Audio & Visual Technician  in servicing, checking, upgrading and maintaining all hearing systems across the Corporate site to include training of front line staff and to keep an accurate record of where these systems are and who is trained in their use.

Assist in ensuring all shared corporate facilities are monitored regularly and that the ICT kit, phones, AV equipment and furniture, including hearing systems, is in place and working correctly.

Reduce issues that users of these areas are experiencing with broken/absent facilities and to ensure that any issues highlighted are reacted to and resolved proactively.

Assist the Audio & Visual Technician with the maintenance of the AV equipment in the corporate meeting rooms, checking on a regular basis that all the appropriate leads and remote controls are in place.

Check that meeting rooms have the correct furniture and where appropriate move furniture back to the correct rooms.

Assist the Audio & Visual Technician with the maintenance of the corporate hot desks, ensuring that the appropriate equipment is in place and where appropriate replaced and a record kept of the replacement

Maintain a stock control of replaceable items such as leads, batteries, mice, keyboards and to arrange replacements where appropriate.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
