An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Licensing Team working for Sevenoaks District Council within the Licensing Partnership and local government. Following a minor restructure we have a new Senior Licensing Officer post available. The role is career graded, full time hours and will require occasional out of hours compliance work. A car allowance is also payable.
You will have experience of working within licensing and an in depth knowledge of taxi licensing and premises licensing is essential. Key aspects of the role are:
- to take the lead on contentious licence applications (including writing and presenting committee reports)
- complaint investigations
- taking appropriate enforcement action when needed
- review of policies (including consultation and referral to Members)
- run / score the knowledge tests for driver applications
- attend meetings (Safety advisory group, liaison meetings etc)
- to give technical advice to junior officers and customers
This would suit someone currently working within Licensing looking for the next step in their career or an existing officer looking to relocate. The team is busy and demand is high, and we work to statutory deadlines and internal performance targets. You will need to have excellent communication, time management, organisational and IT skills together with a commitment to providing excellent customer service.
As a Platinum Award winning Investors in People employer - the first council and public sector employer to be accredited with this award - we will provide appropriate training and development opportunities for this role.
Based at Argyle Road in Sevenoaks, working at the very heart of the Council, we can offer you an excellent benefits package that includes 27-29 days annual leave (with an additional five days depending on length of local government service) plus public holidays with the flexibility of buying or selling additional leave, pension scheme and discounted membership at council leisure facilities.
For an informal discussion about this post, please contact Sharon Bamborough, Head of the Licensing Partnership at firstname.lastname@example.org (who will be happy to speak once telephone numbers are exchanged). No agency enquiries please.
