The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual who has experience of working with children who have a diagnosis of Autism.

The Autism Support Team (AST) is a Peripatetic Advisory Team based within the Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) section of Children's and Adults Services . The team provides specialist advice and recommendations to Southwark Primary Schools to promote inclusion, encourage participation, support well-being and develop students learning.

The AST aims to support school educators by building their own knowledge, understanding and capacity for supporting students in mainstream settings.


About You

We are looking for a candidate who has strong experience of delivering a range of autism specific interventions to support the learning and development of children at primary school.

You will be a highly skilled individual with exceptional communication skills who can demonstrate an ability to engage children and build strong working relationships with your team and with other professionals to achieve the best outcomes for children. The successful post holder will work under the guidance of AST Specialist Teachers

You will have an awareness of education issues and understanding of how to work with schools.
