Stroud District Council covers an area of 175 square miles and has an exceptionally diverse physical, historic and natural environment offering infinite variety and interest. Over 50% of the district is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is extremely well connected with easy access to Bristol, Cheltenham and Gloucester and London by train.
The Council deals with approximately 2,600 planning and related applications a year is currently reviewing its local plan, which seeks to provide 12,800 new houses within the district by 2040.
About the role
Following a recent redesign of the Planning Service, we are seeking to fill a key post of Development Team Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing three development management teams, planning enforcement and the planning administrative support team. The post holder will play a fundamental role in continuing to implement and review ongoing improvements to the service and our customer experience.
You will have significant management experience and a thorough knowledge of development management, planning policy and planning law. You will be able to demonstrate strong leadership skills and take an active part in developing staff within the teams. Excellent communication and negotiation skills are necessity.
