About the role
We are a new and expanding service covering all maintained schools across Surrey County Council (mainstream and specialist) and can offer mixed posts matched to your clinical interests. There is a well-defined SLT leadership team in each of the four Surrey quadrants, so support and guidance will always be on hand and our Service Manager is a Speech and Language Therapist!

About the Service
The school-aged SLT service is part of Surrey's local SEND offer, working collaboratively with the Vulnerable Learners Team and other areas like Educational Psychology and Specialist Teaching.
Our aim is to deliver the right support at the right time, through assessment and intervention; equipping families and professionals with the skills and resources to work together to help support children with SLCN. We follow the Balance model to offer universal, targeted and specialist support for children, families and the school workforce; working with children and young people with EHCPs (Education, Health & Care Plans) and those at SEN (Special Education Needs) support following Surrey's Graduated Response.
About the role
The role of Speech and Language Therapist is varied and no two days will be the same, however you can expect to be involved with the following:
- Clinical decision making, in conjunction with school staff and evidence–based practice, around the level of support needed to achieve the best possible outcome for the children on your defined caseload
- Working with SLT Assistants, setting targets for the children and young people you are jointly supporting and monitoring the delivery and outcomes of their work
- Assessment, advice and intervention for children with a range of speech, language and communication needs within your caseload
