Are you passionate about working with parents and families to create whole system change?
This is an exciting new role in Southwark; which will be working in partnership with parents and families to create and develop a Family Council and a Parent Advocacy Service. This role recognises that family and parents are 'Experts with Experience' who are valued and whose feedback and ideas are learning for us all.
We envisage the Family Council being made up of family members who have experience of Southwark Services, who would like to be involved in influencing policy, practice, strategy & training of practitioners. We have started working with a group of dedicated parents to lay the foundations of the Parent Advocacy Service. We aim to develop a program of support for parents with previous experience of statutory services, to become Parent Advocates to support other parents.
As a skilled communicator, you'll be capable of delivering reports and minutes, working with a broad range of colleagues, working with children and their families with a sensitive approach, as well as be confident in championing for systems change.
Although this role has a high level of independence, you will also work as part of a team.
This role will be managed within the Family Group Conference Service. It is essential that you will have a good understanding of Family Group Conference, Children's Social Care and social/economic issues affecting clients and the impact that they have upon children, young people and families.
You may be an experienced qualified social worker but we are also keen to hear from people with complementary backgrounds who have a passion for challenging inherent power dynamics and to enhance and promote the voices of parents and family.
