This process of joint transformation has seen the two councils move to a single shared officer team, helping to protect services in a time of reducing budgets, realising savings, and ensuring a modern, high quality and resilient professional team. At the same time the strategic profile of both organisations within the region is set to grow.
As part of this programme, we are recruiting a number of exciting new senior opportunities in Finance to continue our momentum and shape a new joint service.
The post of Strategic Procurement Officer is a key role in developing this new service which will support CMT in maintaining the overall financial viability of the two Councils by taking responsibility for Procurement ensuring the delivery of an effective and flexible service and ensuring effective implementation of the two Council’s strategies ensuring a structured approach to procurement across a wide range of goods and services to maximise value for money.
A key element of the role will be to deliver savings, maximise benefits, limit risk and aggregate spend, through strategic procurement advice, guidance, solutions and initiatives in accordance with the council’s constitution, UK Public Contracts Regulations and best practices.
Overall, you will bring a proven track record of success in a senior procurement role; confidence to manage and influence key internal and external stakeholders; strong all round communication skills; and a through understanding of the Public Contract Regulations 2015.
