Fixed Term, maternity cover

Do you have experience of working within a highways team? Do you enjoy getting outdoors in the course of your work? The Highways Team at Rutland are looking for a Development Control Engineer who is conscientious, self-motivated and able to motivate people around them, and wants to join a team of experts who will support and encourage professional development. This is a great opportunity to work within a delivery-focussed unitary authority!

Who you are…

  • Qualified to BTech HNC (Civil Engineering)
  • Experienced in processing highways planning applications
  • Excellent numerical skills and able to prepare Bills of Quantities and undertake site measurements
  • Effective communicator with the ability to engage with individuals at all levels
  • Experience of working with contractors and developers
  • Able to develop innovative concepts
  • Able to deputise for the Senior Highways Manager when required.

As an integral member of the team you will be required to work as part of a standby rota responding to emergencies, attending public meetings and assisting the team with all other queries associated with Rutland highways. No two days are ever the same!
