We are seeking to appoint an experienced Emergency Planning Officer to lead on all aspects of Emergency Planning, Response and Business Continuity within the Council. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with strong organisational and communication skills to carry out this crucial role to ensure the Council complies with its duties under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004.

The postholder will be responsible for the preparation and maintenance of internal emergency plans and procedures for the District Council as well as for response to emergencies affecting the district.

You will provide expertise and guidance to the corporate leadership team and internal departments with regard to Business Continuity to ensure all services are prepared for a business disruptive incident. You will be responsible for the business continuity programme and support departments in the preparation, maintenance and exercise of business impact analyses and contingency plans; including the identification of critical functions, recovery priorities and objectives.

You will be responsible for preparation and delivery of exercises to test the effectiveness of emergency response and business continuity plans, as well as the organising, monitoring and delivery of training for all Council Officers involved in Emergency Planning.

The postholder will also undertake to Chair meetings of the Mansfield District Safety Advisory Group.

In the event of an emergency, the post holder will be expected to provide expert advice and support to the emergency response teams and in particular to the Gold and Silver Emergency Managers.

Due to the nature of the role, the successful candidate must be willing to be called (and respond if necessary) out of office hours.
