Location: East Herts
Salary Range: £22,462 (pro-rata for part time)
Hours: Annualized - 377.51 hours across 10 months
Contract: Fixed Term - 10 months

Job Duties:

Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies preserve archive and local history resources for the study of Hertfordshire past and present, and promote their use.

You will support the delivery of a one year National Lottery Heritage Fund project to mark the centenary of Welwyn Garden City drawing on the wealth of Garden City Archive material.  The project has a number of strands: a primary schools workshop, a touring exhibition, a programme of events and community engagement, collections access development and the gathering of memories for our online community archive.

Your main areas of responsibility will include using ICT to prepare and monitor project plans and documentation, ensuring that milestones are achieved.  This will include planning events and co-ordinating exhibition tours and promotion.  You will be expected to prepare reports, collating project data. You will build and maintain positive relationships with project partners, volunteers and participants.  You will support the project manager in developing innovative ways to analyse and present project data which will be of value to the team and wider heritage sector.

This is an annualized hours post, and you will be working flexibly, both from home, at County Hall in Hertford and at locations in Welwyn Garden City.

This is an exciting time for our service as we move forward with the delivery of ‘Shared Heritage’ our 10 year strategy to ensure preservation of our historic collections for present and future generations, to exploit technology to improve services and progress digital online resources and to work in partnership to increase opportunities for access and leaning. HALS was awarded accredited status by the National Archives in 2017.

For an informal discussion about the post, please contact Marion Hill, Learning and Access Officer, (marion.hill@hertfordshire.gov.uk) or Julie Gregson, Head of Heritage Services (julie.gregson@hertfordshire.gov.uk) on 0300 1234049.
