We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic person to become part of the team responsible for providing Business Support activities within the City Council’s corporate and commercial land and buildings.
You will work with a variety of property related software, systems, databases and financial systems processing invoices, issuing receipts & reconciliations and making payments. You must therefore be computer literate.
You will undertake a range of general office administration tasks such as monitoring mailboxes, filing, copying, scanning, booking couriers and maintaining records requiring excellent organisational skills.
The role will require you to interact with members of the public via telephone, face to face and e-mail, whilst providing reception duties so good interpersonal skills are essential. Experience of dealing with the public in a customer service environment would be beneficial. You will have (or have been predicted) Grade C or above GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, the post holder will be appointed to the permanent post of Business Support Officer. The grade for this position post completion, is Grade 2 SCP 3 -7, currently £18,065 to £19,554 per annum.
The hours of work for this role are 37 hours per week, working Monday to Friday. The Council currently operates a Flexible Working Hours Scheme which applies to this post. You will be based at Lancaster Town Hall.
Earlier this year Lancaster City Council unanimously declared a climate emergency and will therefore work towards reducing carbon emissions to net-zero by 2030. As part of this role, you will be expected to participate and work towards reducing carbon emissions.
