The council is set in a major tourism area with tourist attractions including Windsor Castle, Legoland and Ascot Racecourse and with the Royal Family on the doorstep, this is a good place to live and work. There are excellent transport connections to London and the West of England, with the new Elizabeth Line opening in Maidenhead in 2021.
We are seeking enthusiastic candidates for this post based within the busy and exciting Democratic Services team. The post holder will be responsible for administering and clerking various council committees, forums and panels, providing professional support to Members of the council, and leading on a project area such as education appeals, grants to voluntary organisations, outside body appointments or scrutiny. You will also be expected to support the council during elections.
The ideal candidate should have a sound knowledge of local government, be a well organised administrator, have a good command of English, display energy and enthusiasm, and have the ability to work as part of a small team. The post holder will also need to demonstrate an understanding of the importance of political sensitivity.
The post is career graded and salary offered will be commensurate with experience. An understanding or experience of scrutiny and modern.gov would be an advantage. You will be expected to attend a number of daytime and evening meetings (for which time off in lieu will be given).
