Covering an area which includes the Berkshire Downs, the Kennet Valley and many heaths and commons, West Berkshire offers beautiful and varied countryside, traversed by a network of over 700 miles of public rights of way.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and well-organised Public Rights of Way Officer to assist full-time in the management of West Berkshire’s public rights of way network. Our small rights of way team has a reputation for working closely with its partner organisations in managing countryside access and has also won awards for its work with the voluntary sector.

There may be opportunities to manage the in-house Maintenance Ranger team. Your work on the maintenance and enforcement projects will also provide you with the opportunity to help to manage and improve our successful volunteer scheme.
This is a demanding and rewarding role which will benefit the many people who value and enjoy West Berkshire’s network of rights of way. The successful candidate will have a formal qualification in a relevant countryside or environmental subject and ideally will have at least two years’ post-qualification professional public rights of way experience.
