Web / Full Stack Developer – Digital Services

This is an exciting time to join Waltham Forest – London’s first Borough of Culture.

As the Web Developer Commissioning Lead you will be tasked with ensuring our digital services are best-in-class, and driving adoption and advocacy both internally and externally, working within the digital product team to continuously look for ways to improve the council’s digital offering.

A key success measure of your role will be building the Digital Team’s reputation within the council by providing an excellent customer service, so they are willing to recommend our work.

You will make important contributions to strategic projects and digital service improvements, working with stakeholders within Services and across the Corporate Development team (Transformation, Communications, IT and Digital) with the goal of supporting our resident’s needs and encouraging them to return to digital more and more often.

You will be passionate about improving people’s lives and the on-going development and optimisation of digital services and websites that provide a great customer experience.

You’ll thrive using agile methods and enjoy working openly, collaboratively and as part of a multidisciplinary team focused on one or more projects at a time. Above all, you want to make Waltham Forest better, which may sometimes involve challenging the status quo.

Day-to-day you will lead the development of new websites and improvements to existing services, either through your own development skills or by managing suppliers. You are responsible for building accessible services, solving technical problems and continually looking for ways to improve efficiency and experience using new tools and techniques.

You will be experienced in Drupal, HTML, JavaScript and other web development languages and skills.
