Your role in our journey
An exciting opportunity has arisen for us to recruit for Child Development Practitioners within the 0-19 Public Health Nursing Service (Health Visiting/School Nursing). As a Child Development Practitioner within the Service you will contribute to the provision of evidence based public health nursing practice that promotes and improves health and addresses inequalities at individual, family and community level. You will contribute to the co-ordination, organisation and implementation of local, regional and national public health initiatives including the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme to improve health and wellbeing and safeguard children, young people and families.
What you’ll need to join us,
We’re looking for caring committed individuals with a Level 3 Diploma in Childcare & Education (formerly NNEB/Diploma in Nursery Nursing) or NVQ level 3 in Early Years Care & Education with experience of working in a caring profession. You will need to demonstrate that you have experience of working with children, young people and parents/carers with complex needs in a community setting. We are seeking to recruit individuals who have experience of multi-disciplinary team working and an understanding of the Healthy Child Programme. You need to be enthusiastic about working as part of a dedicated team and resilient and able to work under indirect supervision. Your ability to plan and prioritise your own workload and the ability to travel to a range of venues and settings is essential.
A lot to look forward to
Here at Barnsley, we live and work by four important values: honesty, teamwork, excellent service, and taking pride in what we do. Our Public Health Nursing Service is at the forefront of providing care to our children, young people and families and we are currently on a journey of re-designing the service which we hope will become a truly integrated service that works in partnership with other children’s services and becomes a beacon of good practice at both regional and national level.
