Self–motivated individuals are required to support our Housing Needs and Standards team.
Housing Needs and Standards provide a range of housing services, including housing applications, advice and options. The team are also responsible for preventing homelessness, managing temporary accommodation and engaging with private rented sector landlords.
The increase in homelessness and rough sleeping is an issue that affects all services in all areas of the country. Homelessness is a key corporate priority for both Councils. In Housing Needs and Standards we are committed to meaningful joint working, early identification and intervention of homelessness, and the continuous improvement in our services.
You will work with your clients to complete assessments, provide advice and assistance, with a focus on preventing homelessness. For each case you will coordinate prevention activities including home visits, multi-agency meetings, negotiation with landlords, resolving disputes, and one to one interviews with clients. In addition you will support the wider ongoing development of joint-working partnerships with other key agencies, with plenty of opportunity for training and personal development.
As well as possessing excellent time management and communication skills, you must have the skills to deliver excellent customer service. You will have an understanding of the range of support needs of homeless clients. Knowledge of the homelessness legislation or landlord and tenant law is desirable but not essential.
