We have a new post for a Speech and Language Therapist Assistant to join our team of Therapists and Assistants in North East Surrey, covering Elmbridge, Spelthorne and Epsom and Ewell. We are a large and supportive team and can offer you line management, peer observations, joint working and a thorough induction and in-house training programme.
£19,433 actual salary per annum for 36 hours per week, across 42 weeks of the year, pro-rata from £21,169. The role is term time, plus an additional 15 days per year. You will have a Surrey base and work in schools.

About the role
The School-Aged Speech and Language Therapy Service is part of Surrey County Council's local SEND offer; working collaboratively in the Vulnerable Learners team in Surrey Children, Schools and Families Directorate, with other teams like Educational Psychology and Specialist Teachers.
We aim to deliver the right support at the right time, through assessment and intervention and by equipping families and professionals with the skills and resources to work together to help and support children with SLCN. We follow the Balance model to offer universal, targeted and specialist support for children, families and the school workforce working with children and young people with EHCPs (Education, Health & Care Plan) and those at SEN (Special Education Needs) support.
This is a great opportunity to work across mainstream schools, predominantly in the boroughs of Spelthorne and Elmbridge. Your base will be at Fairmount House, Leatherhead, KT22 7AH.
Your role will be to play a pivotal part in supporting children to achieve the outcomes agreed by a Speech and Language Therapist in conjunction with the school and family through a range of activities:
- Working individually with a child/ young person within the school
- Modelling strategies to class teachers/ teaching assistants
- Working with a small group
- Creating resources for the therapy team

- Flexibility to adapt both your approach and communication style in order to deliver therapy intervention which is functional and client centered
- Ability to work independently and flexibly
