Islington is seeking to recruit a dynamic and conscientious individual to the role of Placement officer.
The role works in partnership with a range of stakeholders including Youth Offending, Housing Providers and Adult Social Services and the teams under Safeguarding and Family Support to plan for and meet the housing and accommodation needs of Looked After Children and homeless young people aged 16 and 17.
The role will involve providing advice and guidance to social workers and managers on a range of regulated placement options and housing and accommodation options for young people.
The post holder will be responsible for end to end commissioning and contract management.
We are inviting applications from individuals who will either have a relevant commissioning qualification or will have had substantial previous experience of commissioning services for looked after children and homeless vulnerable young people. We are very keen to hear from applicants who have considerable experience of commissioning in both local authority children’s services and in the placement sector.
You will be outcome focused in your approach to purchasing services that offer value for money to the Council and achieve excellent outcomes for our children and young people. You will also have strong negotiation skills as well as the ability to work in partnership with a range of professionals and providers.
This role is offered under a fixed term contract for six months with the possibility of a further extension
