Unpaid and voluntary positions – people to help us maintain the highest standards of audit scrutiny
We are looking for two local people, unaffiliated to the council’s political groups and with no connection to the council, to sit on our Audit and Standards Committee.
The Committee meets four times a year (usually Wednesday evenings at 7 pm) and considers a wide range of audit and related matters. You will sit with elected councillors and work with them to maintain and improve overall corporate governance.
What sort of person are we looking for?
- It is important that an Independent Member has the profile and experience that the community would recognise and respect as bringing an independent and informed perspective to the work of the Committee.
- If you have experience in an auditing or a financial role that would be an advantage as would knowledge of local government and the need for propriety in the public sector.
To ensure your voice is truly independent, you should have no connection with the political groups that sit on the council or be a close friend or relative of a Member or officer of the council.
If you are interested in this important role in the public life of the council, please email Alan Harrison, Monitoring Officer, with your details.
