BI Developer (CF&E)

The Council aims to deliver and support Business Intelligence (BI) solutions across the organisation. The vision is to provide an effective BI platform to empower people across the Council to identify, assemble and use data and information to make evidence-based decisions - resulting in better outcomes for our residents.
Croydon holds a wealth of data across multiple systems and has invested resources in a number of innovative projects as part of a Business Intelligence programme which has brought together datasets from multiple sources to offer new insights into our customer, demands and costs. These insights are being used by services to refocus delivery and deliver business benefit.
This is an exciting time to join the Business Intelligence team who are seeking to ensure that the effective use of data is at the heart of the design and delivery of excellent services.
Reporting to the Business Intelligence Programme Manager, you will:
use appropriate techniques for extracting data from the Children’s Families and Education (CF&E) source systems and moving data into the Azure Business Intelligence platform;
need to understand the structure of data in both source database systems and the Business Intelligence platform;
work closely with CF&E services to understand and capture their requirements and consider how data can be structured to provide the service with new insights, from which they can derive benefits;
develop innovative data visualisations and dashboards, which meet the business needs, using Microsoft Power BI;
deliver individual Business Intelligence projects to CF&E service teams, contributing to defining, planning, delivering and reviewing programme/project activities, using an Agile approach where appropriate;
have excellent Azure BI, Power BI, SQL, Dimension Modelling skills; Champion the use of Business Intelligence across the Council.
