Health & Safety Co-coordinator

We are seeking to recruit a full time Health and Safety Coordinator within the busy Health and Safety Team included within the Audit and Risk function (which is part of Corporate Resources) based in Magdalen House, Bootle.
The Health and Safety team provide technical guidance to the organisation on occupational health and safety and work closely with the Property Services Team on buildings related statutory compliance. The team provide advice and support to managers across the organisation on risk assessments, DSE and other areas of occupational health and safety. The successful candidate will be expected to have a professional qualification in health and safety.
Duties and responsibilities will include advice and support to the business as the subject matter expert on health and safety to ensure that colleagues meet their responsibilities within the health and safety policy. The design and delivery of the health and safety strategy for the Council ensuring there is an effective framework of up to date policy and guidance for staff members to follow. Manage and conduct audits and reviews to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety legislation and best practice.
Manage and undertake a planned agreed inspection regime of the Council’s buildings to ensure the risks surrounding asbestos, legionella, gas safety, electrical safety, control of contractors, hot works, lifts etc are being effectively managed in accordance with good practice and legislation.
