PO1-PO3: Starting salary £34,128 pa plus10% Out of hours working enhancement

Lambeth is one of the most dynamic and exciting places in the UK to live, work and visit. The borough stretches from the banks of the Thames opposite the Houses of Parliament to Streatham and West Norwood in the south, via the South Bank, Clapham, Brockwell Park, Brixton and the UK’s busiest station at Waterloo. With over 1400 licensed premises, iconic venues and public events across busy town centres, Lambeth is home to diverse, strong and engaged communities.

We are now seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Licensing Officer to join our busy Licensing team, which is at the forefront of striking the right balance between supporting thriving economic growth and a well-regulated and compliant operating environment.

The successful candidate will be required to deliver proactive and responsive services across the wide range of operational Licensing duties and responsibilities in relation to the Licensing Act 2003 and wider Licensing legislation in order to achieve and maintain positive outcomes for the borough, our partners, businesses and people.

Post holders carry out a regular programme of visits including inspections of licensed premises; provide advice; manage licensing cases; carry out enforcement as appropriate, and conduct investigations to address any breaches of the relevant legislative framework, and seeing these through to prosecution where applicable.

Applicants must be well organised with strong verbal, written and presentation skills, be able to work on their own initiative as well as part of a team, and have the vision and ability to contribute to the continuous improvement and modernisation of the service. Experience with licensing legislation (Licensing Act 2003; Gambling Act 2005 etc) and procedure or a similar statutory enforcement role, and the ability to tackle and deliver a varied workload are essential.

Regular working outside of office hours is required for this post, for which a 10% enhancement is payable.

Successful candidates will be offered the post subject to Standard Disclosure clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service. Further information can be found at www.disclosure.gov.uk

Please note: previous applicants need not apply.

Closing date: Sunday 24th November 2019 at midnight.

Interviews will be held in the week beginning 9th December.
