£2,816 per annum for 6 hours per week based at Camberley Library, Knoll Road, Camberley GU15 3SY (two posts).

£1,407 per annum for 3 hours per week based at Cranleigh Library, High Street, Cranleigh GU6 8AE.

£1,407 per annum for 3 hours per week based at Frimley Green Library, Beech Road, Frimley Green, Camberley GU16 6LQ.

£2,816 per annum for 6 hours per week based at Guildford Library, North Street, Guildford GU1 4AL (£1,407 per annum for 3 hours per week also available).

£2,816 per annum for 6 hours per week based at Haslemere Library, 91 Wey Hill, Haslemere GU27 1HP.

£1,407 per annum for 3 hours per week based at Horsley Library, Station Parade, East Horsley KT24 6QR.

£2,816 per annum for 6 hours per week based at Woking Library, Gloucester Walk, Woking GU21 6EP (three posts).

We have part time 6 hour Weekend Library Network Assistant positions available in these West Surrey libraries: Camberley, Cranleigh (3 hours), Frimley Green (3 hours), Guildford, Haslemere, Horsley (3 hours) and Woking.

Although based at a specific library, you will also work regularly at other nearby libraries, and will travel to other locations to support the wider library network as required.

Job details

Surrey is one of the largest county councils in the UK and has over 50 libraries across the county. Our library teams deliver a range of services to all members of the public. Times have changed since all that libraries offered was books and access to a reference collection. Now, in addition to lending books and providing a range of online reference resources, we also hold computer classes, Rhymetimes and Storytimes, and various other events such as Minecraft sessions and Code Clubs. We are able to offer a range of services, including library services for the elderly or disabled.

Your daily duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Assist with enquiries as required
  • Take part in Rhymetime and Storytime
  • Support library events as required, e.g. craft session
  • Ensure borrower records are kept up to date
  • Working at other branches within the local area

We are looking for the following key skills from potential applicants:

  • Knowledge of using Microsoft Office packages
  • Ability to use initiative and work under pressure with accuracy
  • A basic understanding of working in a library
  • Confidence and resilience
  • Positive working attitude towards training and development
