Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council are looking to appoint a Tree Officer to work as part of the council’s Landscape and Ecology Team. The council have developed a ‘One Team’ approach to working and this relies on each and every person working collaboratively to deliver shared goals. To be a positive influence on this environment, you’ll need to be able to support others and be a genuine team player.
Working under the direction of the Landscape and Ecology Manager, you will be part of a small, professional team dealing with all aspects of the urban tree environment.
You will administer the council’s tree maintenance contract and be involved in tree inspections and assessing the degree of hazard posed by trees. The post also includes advising the planning team on all aspects of tree protection and there is an opportunity to influence the developing green infrastructure of the borough.
This is an exciting opportunity to develop your personal skillset whilst undertaking a wide range of tree management tasks. You’ll need to be willing to work across a broad area of tree management and support the wider interests of the volunteers. It is essential you have a Level 4, or above, qualification in Arboriculture or similar as well as post qualification experience. Along with excellent communication skills, you must have good experience of using computer programmes and daily usage of Ezytreev is highly desirable. You will need a full driving licence.
The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential in this post.

Closing date is 2 December 2019.
Assessments and interviews will be held on 10 December 2019.
