The services delivered by the Communities, Economy and Transport department (CET) have an enormous impact on the lives of local people and the natural environment. From operating waste facilities and registration offices, to maintaining roads and major infrastructure planning, the moment an East Sussex resident steps outside their front door, they are interacting with our work. Therefore, roles in our department offer enormous scope to make a positive impact on the quality of life for people and the environment of East Sussex.
East Sussex Registration is a busy team delivering key services to the entire community. Every year across our Register Offices around the county we register thousands of births and deaths, as well as conducting thousands of weddings and civil partnerships. We also facilitate Citizenship Ceremonies for hundreds of people and reproduce tens of thousands of certificates from our historic archives dating back to 1837. People come to us at major events in their lives and count on us to deliver what they need, so our teams make a big impact on local communities.
The role of Registration Officer is an exciting and varied one. The successful candidate will join our busy and vibrant Hastings team, taking bookings and administering a range of ceremonies including marriages, civil partnerships, non-statutory celebrations and citizenship ceremonies, as well as issuing certificates and dealing with face to face enquiries.
Via the attached Career Progression Framework, the successful person will also be trained to perform a full range of registration tasks including;
- Registering births, deaths and marriages
- Conducting ceremonies
- Issuing change of name deeds
To fill this vacancy, we are looking for someone with superb interpersonal skills, excellent attention to detail, proven IT capabilities and the confidence to deliver a ceremony in front of a large audience.
