The post holder contributes to the maintenance, improvement and extension of the Education property portfolio for Brighton & Hove as part of a small team. You will work with Schools, education specialists, building surveyors and other colleagues within and outside the Local Authority.

Job Introduction

We are looking for an enthusiastic manager to join the Education Premises Team within our Property & Design Division.

You will prepare and implement the annual programme of planned and term maintenance to maintained school buildings in the city in conjunction with the Council’s in house building surveyors and facilities managers. 

You will act as a source of advice and support to schools in respect of maintenance works and this will include regular visits to school premises.  You will assist in assessing the need to acquire or dispose of land or property and to secure approval of leases, licences and wayleaves and to maintain up to date records of school buildings, land and property.  You will contribute to corporate asset management policies and procedures.  You will take the lead in specific health and safety areas such as legionella and asbestos matters.

You will have appropriate experience of property management and budget setting and monitoring, be a good team player, strong on Health and Safety, have a flexible approach, good communication and IT and organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure.

 

Additional Information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency's Points-based Immigration System.
