Library workers provide an essential front line service ensuring that our customers of all ages get the best from their library service.
The ability to work under pressure is essential.
You will need to be able to quickly master the varied aspects of library routines, including front line customer care, using the library management system, the self-service machines, handling cash, stock requests and stock circulation procedures.
To succeed in this role you must be able to communicate well and demonstrate a mature and professional attitude coupled with an enthusiasm to learn.
Previous experience of customer care in a similar environment with keyboard or computer skills would be an advantage.
The role involves a significant amount of standing, bending and carrying heavy weights.
- You will need to be able to get to all of the libraries within Thurrock.
- Please note there are no guaranteed hours for Peak Relief Posts; you will only be paid for actual hours worked.
- You must also be available to work Monday to Saturday between 9.00am and 7.00pm.
