We are investing in our Building Control Service and are now looking for experienced Senior Building Control Officers. This is a fantastic opportunity to join Chorley Council’s Building Control team. If you are committed to delivering an excellent service and have a customer service focus, we would like to hear from you. You will need enthusiasm, confidence and drive to satisfy client expectations, promote the service and secure the compliance of development within the Borough.

You will be expected to work independently to deal with projects from commencement through to completion.  Therefore, you should have a comprehensive working knowledge of current legislation (and regulatory framework provision of the building control function) with a strong background of dealing with complex and large-scale projects.

As a Senior Building Control Officer, you will be responsible for processing Building Regulation submissions, have experience of dangerous structures, carrying out both plan vetting and site inspections, and maintaining records.  You will also carry out investigations of alleged breaches of Building Regulations and allied legislation together with enforcement through early intervention and enforcement notices and attendance at court where necessary.

You will have experience of the operation of a Building Control service, enforcement and regulatory processes and be computer literate, where knowledge of Uniform (CAPS) would be beneficial. We believe you will find the role extremely exciting and rewarding as we challenge ourselves to provide the best possible services for residents and developers.

The ideal candidate will hold an appropriate qualification in building control surveying or a related subject and be a member of a relevant professional institute (RICS/CABE/CIOB). It is essential that you have experience of working in Building Control and, as a result, you will also have acquired a thorough practical knowledge of enforcing the Building Regulations.

Recognised as one of the best councils to work for we offer a great range of benefits for employees including competitive salaries, a flexitime system, healthcare cash plan and discounts at major retailers. We have fantastic transport links, whether travelling by road or rail, so if you’re looking for a job in the North West then we’re sure you won’t find anywhere better to work.
