Area Building Control Surveyor
£29,325 - £50,697 (position on scale dependent upon experience / qualifications)
Plus - recruitment allowance of 10% of base salary in first year
Plus – “out of hours” emergency on-call allowance of £3,500/annum
Plus - essential car user allowance
We are inviting applications for an enthusiastic and qualified individual to join our small but experienced Building Control team. In applying for this post you should ideally be a corporate member of RICS/CABE and have a proven track record within Local Authority Building Control. Consideration may be given to candidates who are qualified to degree level in a construction related subject and who have relevant Building Control experience, such candidates should be actively progressing towards full corporate membership of either RICS or CABE.
The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking all general Building Control duties but primarily the checking of plans and carrying out site inspections within a specific geographical area to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements. As a member of the Spelthorne team you will be expected to have an in-depth knowledge of construction as well as all allied legislation relating to Building Control matters. You will also be able to work under your own initiative and be committed to providing a first class level of service to our customers. Experience of working with dangerous structures would be an advantage as the post involves participation in the Council’s out of hours emergency rota (approximately two weeks on call within an eight week period).
In order to fulfil the duties associated with the post you are required to hold a full and current driving licence and have access to a suitable vehicle for work purposes.
