The Direct Payment team sits within the Strategic Commissioning structure spanning Adult Social Care, Children servicesand Health. Their role is to set up and monitor Direct Payment held by customers within Newham. If a customer is eligible for support, they can choose to manage this themselves with a Direct Payment. A Direct Payment allows the customer morechoice and control on how they would like to spend their individual budget to meet their care and support needs.

An exciting opportunities have now arisen within team, we are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious person with a 'can do' attitude to improve the service to our residents. Your job will involve face to face contact with customers to explain the advantages of Direct Payment. Great people skills are a must.
You will be out in the community, in customers homes and meeting people face to face for the majority of the working week.
You will be responsible for monitoring the income and expenditure of service users in receipt of an Individual Budget paid via a third party or directly administered by the individual or their appropriate representative. You will need to have:-High levels of literacy and numeracy.-IT skills in word processing & spread sheet.-Ability to identify risk to service users and investigate and escalate any issues identified in a professional manner.-Ability to manage a diverse workload and work to competing deadlines.-Experience of conducting interviews with service users and of working with a range of people, including pensioners and people with disabilities in the community and in their homes.
