Thurrock Council is serious about tackling fraud committed against the authority and the wider-public sector ensuring that public money is safeguarded. In 2018, Thurrock Council received government support to launch the National Investigation Service, a new collaboration between policing and government hosted in Thurrock Council.
This collaboration is formed of experts in their field with experience drawn from investigating all types of economic crime, receiving praise from the judiciary in successfully bringing criminals to justice. The service works with other public authorities faced with serious and complex economic crime and shares its resources to apprehend those responsible.
The NATIS function is looking for an experienced practitioner from the law enforcement community to continue to champion the innovative work in this economic crime space. Our national responsibilities mean that our operational officers are expected to be confident in delivering large and complex criminal enquires using their knowledge and experience to apply the best tools and strategies to deal with them, including though partnership working.
As a key member of the team you will have significant experience in large, major and complex economic crime affecting the public sector. The service is a 24/7 function and you will be expected to work through the night and on weekends and bank holidays, where necessary, to achieve our objectives. This role attracts a separate allowance to compensate for these 24/7 duties.
You will be a well-respected practitioner in criminal investigation with demonstrable success of applying innovation and best practice to crime problems.
There are 4 positions available within the National Investigation Service and we are seeking those that have extensive experience within one of the following areas; Disclosure, Complex Investigation, Serious Organised Crime or within a Local Authority setting.
You must have considerable investigative experience from a recognised law enforcement agency such as the Police Service, NCA, HMRC or equivalent.

The role requires the holder to hold or obtain National Security Vetting to 'SC' Level and Non-Police Personnel Vetting to Level 3, within 6 months of appointment (prior to probation signoff), failure to do so will result in the termination of employment.
