The Early Years sector in Waltham Forest has seen significant improvement over the last 5 years, increasing from 83% of providers being rated as Good or Outstanding by Ofsted in 2014 to 93% in March 2019. We are very proud of this achievement and believe that the key to this success has been working in partnership with providers across the Schools and PVI sector and providing holistic support, information and training to providers across all aspects of running quality provision such as Teaching, Learning, Assessment, Safeguarding, SEND, Finance, Recruitment and Health & Safety.
The introduction of 30-hours of free early education for almost 2000 3 & 4 year olds children in the Borough in September 2017 has increased pressure on schools and settings to develop and/or enhance their business skills to be to meet these challenges.
The Early Years Advisory Teacher role is a key member of the team delivering support, information and training to Schools and PVI settings providing early years and childcare places and will be pivotal in raising the quality of Early Years practice and provision in Waltham Forest. The role will be responsible for:
- Raising the standards of teaching and learning in the EYFS with a focus on 0-2 year olds through the provision of advice, support and training to early years practitioners in Waltham Forest, in accordance with the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
- Organising professional support for Schools, Private, Voluntary and Independent settings and Children Family Centres by working with providers to ensure they implement a high standard of teaching and learning with a focus on 0-2 year olds.
- Supporting the ongoing professional development of all practitioners across Early Year’s provision through co-ordinating and delivering the Early Years, Childcare and Business Development training offer.
- Advising on effective practice consistent with early years principles on a range of areas, encompassing the unique child, positive relationships, enabling environment and learning and development.
- Supporting parents/carers in supporting their children's learning and development at home and to empower them with the skills and confidence they need to support their children’s learning through play and everyday activities.
